Vendor Selection: Photography, DJ and Ceremony Music!

Most people pour themselves into hours of research and comparison when searching for wedding vendors. All that work is usually after they have decided what it is they even want. And even then it takes days and hours of interviews and meetings until the perfect vendor is selected. Us? Nope. We opted not to reinvent the wheel.

We truly lucked-out when it came to our photographer and DJ: we used friendors. A "friendor" is a friend that does the desired activity at a steep discount because they know you and love you. While they are both friends-of-friends, I like to pretend they love us just the same because we certainly love their deeply discount prices!

The only vendor we've had to really search for has been our Harpist. While we're cutting many costs, we've opted to keep the things that we think will make the biggest impact for the least cost: ceremony music and up-lighting. To find out harpist, I simply googled! From there, I picked whomever had the highest ratings and most reviews. I visited their websites and heard some samples and viola, I aimed my search. From there, I inquired about pricing. Incidentally, the person with the best reviews was also one of the lowest prices. We met with her and the rest is history!

How did you search for your vendors? What did you base your search criteria on?
